Who is Janet? Janet is a Digital Creator

One thing I find very exciting, passionate, easy and fulfilling is being a digital creator.

Who is a Digital Creator?
A digital creator or digital content creator is someone who produces and publishes content such as writing, photography or video across various online platforms. They create and share content that is authentic to them and their brand, and they usually have a target audience.

For the past years, I’ve been waking up at night to create content because the truth is that ideas flow seamlessly when everywhere is calm and quiet. I could spend hours only creating and brainstorming ideas and content for my blog and the organizations I work for. It can be very exhausting because it takes a lot of energy, space, time and thinking. God is the foundation of my career, that’s why I pray to Him regarding our blog, my career and life as a whole.

Let’s take a deep dive into the types of digital content, platforms, tools and skills needed for digital creation:

Types of Digital Content:
(1) Written Content:
Blog posts, articles, ebooks and social media posts are examples of written content. This type of content is ideal for sharing information, telling stories and educating audiences. Written content allows you to connect deeply with your readers.
⭐️For the past six years, Art of True Zeal Blog has been focusing mainly on written contents and I’m so excited to see us expand deeply into other types of content.
(2) Multimedia Content: This category includes photography, vector graphics, memes, GIFs and AI-generated art. Multimedia content is perfect for visual storytelling and can be used across various platforms.
(3) Video Content: Videos are the most popular type of digital content. They include long-form videos, reels, livestreams, video templates, webinars and online courses. Video content is excellent for engaging audiences, sharing knowledge and promoting products. Platforms like YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram have made video content essential in digital marketing strategies.
(4) Audio Content: Podcasts, music and sound effects fall under audio content. This type of content is ideal for audiences who prefer listening to information or entertainment. Podcasts, in particular, have seen a rise in popularity, offering creators a platform to discuss niche topics and build a loyal listener base.
(5) Digitized Art: Paintings, graphic designs, logos and NFTs (non fungible tokens) are examples of digitized art. This type of content is perfect for artists who want to showcase their work online. With the rise of digital art marketplaces, creators can now monetize their art in innovative ways.

Essential Platforms and Tools for Digital Creators:
🌟 Social Media Platforms:
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube are popular social media platforms for digital creators. Each platform has its unique features and audience, so it’s essential to choose the ones that best fit your content and target audience. For instance, Instagram is great for visual content, while YouTube is ideal for long-form videos.
🌟 Content Management Systems (CMS): WordPress, Wix and Squarespace are popular CMS options for digital creators. These platforms allow you to create and manage your website, blog or online store. They offer customizable templates and plugins to help you build a professional online presence.
🌟 Graphic Design Tools: Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and Sketch are popular graphic design tools for digital creators. These tools help you create visually appealing graphics, logos and other multimedia content. Whether you’re designing social media posts or creating a brand logo, these tools offer the flexibility and features you need.
🌟 Video Editing Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve are popular video editing software for digital creators. Other video editing apps include CapCut and InShot.
🌟 Online Course Platforms: Udemy, Teachable and Kajabi are popular online course platforms for digital creators. These platforms allow you to create and sell online courses, ebooks and other digital products. They provide the infrastructure you need to share your knowledge and monetize your expertise.

Skills needed to be a successful digital creator:
It takes time, effort and commitment to build a successful brand. Here are some of the most crucial skills you need to be a digital creator:
Creativity: Creativity includes coming up with new ideas for content, speaking eloquently on camera if you are making a video, creating entertaining content that captures your audience’s attention and creating eye-catching visuals. This includes thumbnails for videos as well as attractive images on Instagram. Also, you need to constantly find new ways of engaging with your audience, such as “Ask Me Anythings” (AMAs) or sharing behind-the-scenes footage.
Communication: Clear communication is key when building a brand. You need to clearly communicate your ideas and brand message in order to captivate your target audience.
✨Understanding the different monetization options available, such as sponsored content, merchandising sales, affiliate marketing and selling digital products, is crucial for building a sustainable income. Being active in collaborating with other digital creators in your niche is relevant here too. Collaborations can expand your reach, introduce you to new audiences and provide opportunities for learning and growth. Attend industry events, join online communities and network with like-minded individuals to build relationships and gain insights.
Be authentic: Discover and walk in your own path. Be yourself. Avoid comparison. Stick to your brand’s purpose, vision, mission and values. Build a family or community, thereby creating a sense of belonging and togetherness.
Being approachable and adaptable: Some people find it difficult or even painful to listen to feedback. But you need to welcome criticism (when it’s constructive) and use it as an opportunity to improve. Consistently evaluate and refine your work to deliver value to your audience.
Consistency: You need to practice consistently to improve your skills. Create a content calendar and schedule. Utilize the software, tools and equipment relevant to your craft. It takes time, space and effort to become a successful digital creator, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Stay committed to your craft, keep creating great content, promote yourself and be patient with your progress.

When I was in the university, digital content creation was one way I could share my heartache, challenges, heal and live fully.
I think it is really interesting how I’ve not been open about my life as a digital creator because I’ve been building it step by step over the years.
My love for the digital content creation space is so lovely because it’s the reason I’ve felt so fulfilled and grateful in life.

Last year, I applied for a digital journalism course to advance my knowledge of this career path and I got certified.
Ladies and Gentlemen, meet our certified digital journalist 🥳🥳🥳

Creating content using digital platforms for the past six years has widened my mindset and opened me to opportunities such as working with Orange Tables, Calabar as a content writer. It has truly been a great accomplishment, joy and fulfillment for me because I only deliver excellent work! 💯

I’m really trying to find the words to explain my life as a digital creator because this career path has changed the trajectory of my life. It makes me super excited to get up in the morning, at night and at whatever time of my life and be my best self. It has made me document every step of my journey, slowly and surely converting experiences to skills and it has also taken me to rooms where I’ve spoken and met with people who inspire me. Furthermore, this has led me to build a healthier relationship with God and people, helping me understand life better.

I’m looking forward to seeing all that is in-store in this journey of being a digital content creator. It feels relieving to share this part of my life finally ☺️❤️

One thing that makes me inspired and happy about our blog is our relationship with God.

This is why I boldly said this in our NYSC blog post, because the way I turned the challenges of the NYSC year into daily gratitude in a new city is a perfect explanation of 2nd Corinthians 2:14 KJV. Whatever challenge you may be facing in life, turn it to praise & thanksgiving, as it is written in 2nd Corinthians 2:14.
Congratulations on your answered prayers, my darling. We love you 🥰

“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
