My Last Days at NYSC Orientation Camp, Rivers State.

Hi, my name is Janet Reuben Okon. I am a writer, inspirational, lifestyle, health and wellness blogger and human anatomist. Welcome to the last days of Janet’s NYSC camp experience (imagine you are in a movie theater and the movie is my life, of course, so buckle your seatbelt and get your popcorn & drink by your side because we’re going to have the best time ever!). In this blog post, I will share my Open Heaven, Ajuwaya Sunday, SDG Graduation, Carnival, and Camp POP Day/Closing Day experiences. I’m so excited!!! Let’s go!! 🥳🥳🥳

On 27th June 2025, we had our last morning meditation, also called Open Heaven 💃💃💃

We were all so happy 🥳🥳🥳

We danced and danced and danced 🥳🥳🥳

It felt so much like it was our last morning meditation at NYSC orientation camp, Rivers State and truly, it was.

A memory I will always hold on to and cherish forever.

One of the groups I joined at NYSC orientation camp was SDG. SDG means Sustainable Development Goal. It was founded by the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012 to transform the world.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our NYSC SDG Anthem:
NYSC SDGs a viable road map for development
We shall live it and preach it
Till we all see a new Nigeria
Team we shall be all stakeholders
Together each achieves more
O the challenge of development
O the Joy of development
Nigeria people let’s support it
Till we all see a new Nigeria.

On Sunday, 22nd June 2025, I had my SDG graduation 🥹🥹🥹🫶🏾. Yes, everyday at NYSC camp was a gift and a celebration 😭🤍. I’m forever grateful for my camp experience 🥹🫶🏾

We were officially welcomed into the NYSC SDG group as a member 🥳🥳🥳

This is me and my many passions. Lol!
University Janet would be so proud of NYSC Janet 🥹🫶🏾. This is what I did during my university days with Orange Tables, Calabar and now, I get to take it to a higher level. Thank you God 🤍

I’m always so happy when it has to do with passion because I’m such a passionate person.

I looked so good on this day, as usual! I had such a good time 🥰🥰🥰

Happy Ajuwaya Sunday to us and all who celebrate! 🥳🥳🥳
Ajuwaya Sunday means the last Sunday of NYSC camp! This was the first time I ever attended a physical Sunday service at NYSC camp and it was so impactful!

Here are a few things I learned and would love to share with you:
Theme: The Mercy of God
🌟Ministered by: Rev. Biodun Akintayo
Scripture: “Well then, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God who sheweth mercy”. ~Romans 9:16
🌟Biblical examples of people who God showed mercy: Peter and David.
Message: This NYSC year, you need the mercy of God.
🌟Prayer request: O God, show me MERCY in my NYSC, career, relationship, and in every area of life IJMN Amen.

Happy Carnival Day to NYSC Batch A Stream 2 Corpers and all who celebrates 😍🥳🥳🥳
Let’s start with my platoon 💃. Platoon 3 represented the Ikwere tribe of Rivers State 😍🥳 I captured this moment so beautifully 😍😍😍😍😍. Our Ikwere Queen and King looked so good 😍😍😍. Our Ikwere Queen was the most beautiful queen 😍. What a beautiful smile! 😍

My content creation skill this period? I’m in awe! 🤩. I’ve gotten better, and that’s because I’ve been recording my journey from day one of my NYSC camp experience 💃

Ladies and Gentlemen, give way for my beautiful roommate, the platoon flag bearer and the entire members of Ikwere tribe 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍. What a joy to be a part of this beautiful celebration 🥰

NYSC made me realize that Ananng, Ibibio and Efik are some of the most beautiful cultures in Nigeria, from their dressing, dance, song, food, and language to their people. Everything about the tribe is beautiful! That’s how someone told me that they are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. That’s a fact! Because hospitality is 10/10 ✨ Watching them today made me proud to be an Ananng girl 😅🥰

The Edo King ATE his role 🔥 🔥🔥 They looked so good!!! It looks like he’s been waiting for this moment and he finally got it 😂 I really loved their royal display 🔥

The Igbo tribe looked busy. This was a key display of the tribe, from their marketplaces at Aba and Onitsha to their wealthy lifestyle.

Fun Fact: Most of the Igbo people I know attend Catholic church 😂😂😂. Igbo people 🤝 Catholic Church 🙏🏽. I really love that they displayed this part of their lifestyle 🥰.

Carnival Day NYSC Batch A Stream 2:
I really enjoyed discovering new things about the tribes in Nigeria and life in general.

Happy Camp Passing Out Parade (POP) Day 🥳🥳🥳

Happy last day of NYSC camp for Batch A Stream 2 corps members 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳. It’s the Lord’s day and it is marvelous in our eyes 🙏🏽

Congratulations to Batch A Stream 2 corps members 👏🏾❤️🥳

The most adulthood task I’ve done this year is NYSC 😭🫶🏾

My friend asked me why I started the NYSC Blog series and here’s why:
(1) To document and share my life journey:
This is what I’ve been doing for the past years on our blog and it’s what I want to continue doing for this NYSC year and for the rest of my life. Also, I want to expand in sharing skills and monetization of skills.
(2) To fulfill my blog vision and purpose in life. My blog vision is to positively impact lives. My purpose is to build with God, people and things.
🌟 Here’s how I’ve been able to apply my blog vision and purpose in life through the NYSC Blog Series:
✨To serve as an encouragement to people who think it’s impossible to attend or enjoy NYSC. It’s very possible to attend and enjoy NYSC to the fullest. If I can do it, then they can do it too and much more.
✨To enlighten and educate, such as evolving one’s mind and career since the NYSC certificate is a major requirement in the Nigerian labour market.
✨To serve as a guide in helping people live a happy and fulfilling life during their NYSC year.
⭐️Finally, for me to keep the drive and idea of this NYSC blog series alive throughout this service year, I’ll keep going, learning and growing through the journey.

Thank you for attending Janet’s NYSC Camp Blog Series 2025! I love sharing my NYSC journey with you and I hope you stay and ride through this NYSC journey until the very end. I hope you enjoyed this experience much more than I did 🥰🥰. I’m so grateful for a fun-filled, amazing and great journey at NYSC camp. I’m so excited for the journey ahead. Thank you God!

I want to specially thank my family, friends, colleagues (corpers) and loved ones for making this journey so much easier, softer and enjoyable for me. God bless you all for making my NYSC camp experience worthwhile. I’m so grateful ❤️

Finally, I want to thank me 😩😭. For the first time ever, I didn’t cry in a phase of life. I documented every single day of my journey at the camp and posted LIVE on the family platform (WhatsApp). Wow! I just keep amazing myself. I’m lost for words because I lived such a beautiful life. It was stressful but worth it 😭. At some point, I thought about the federal government of Nigeria extending camp duration from three weeks to one month or longer 🤣🤣. Please don’t come for me o 😂. It was what I thought and said, not what happened 😂😂😂. I’m so happy that I experienced immense joy, peace and fulfillment during my time at NYSC orientation camp, Nonwa Gbam Tai, Rivers State. My prayer for anyone who plans to attend NYSC Camp is that you enjoy every moment to the fullest and your experience will be a testament of a beautiful God IJMN Amennnn. I love you all! Take care ❤️

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
